Spice Market — 24 October 2026

Dear Client,

Please find below the latest market intelligence for the Indian Spice sector as of
24 October 2026.

Kirana and dry fruit markets saw demand pick up, with Cloves, Black Pepper and Large Cardamom turning sharply firmer. Cumin stayed under pressure on weaker demand. Festive and wedding-season buying, along with thin stocks, is keeping most spices in a firm-to-bullish bias.

🌶️ Large Cardamom Turns Strong on Festive & Winter Demand

Large Cardamom is trading at a high level, with a sharp rise over the past session. New-crop arrivals are coming in steadily and old stock is also available. Even so, prices are well supported because masala companies and wholesale buyers are buying more ahead of the October-November festivals and the winter season. Demand from the household segment has risen considerably. The crop is expected to be good this year, and the near-term outlook points to further gains.

🔥 Black Pepper & Cloves Gain Momentum

Black Pepper and Cloves both firmed up as demand improved across the kirana segment. Both are trading at stronger levels than the previous session. Festival and wedding-season buying and limited fresh selling pressure are the key supports. Sentiment remains bullish in the short term.

🌿 Cumin Softens in Spot, but Outlook Stays Firm

Cumin prices eased in the spot market as demand weakened. However, a recent surge in the futures market has kept sentiment supported. Uncertainty over weather and temperature ahead of the October-November sowing season is a major concern. Lower arrivals in major mandis including Unjha are adding to it. If the coming days bring poor weather support or delayed sowing, prices could move higher.

🟡 Turmeric Shines on Buyer Support

Turmeric prices have risen on renewed buyer support. Erode finger turmeric had slipped sharply earlier but rebounded, and prices jumped the day before. Arrivals in mandis are weak, and old stocks have been declining for the past few years. Big traders and stockists are holding back stock, expecting further gains. The near-term outlook remains bright and the trend is likely to stay firm.

🌱 Coriander Outlook Remains Bright

Coriander prices have been rising, even after a small correction two days ago. New-crop arrivals in the big mandis of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are below normal, creating a shortage in the spot market. Stockists holding back material is also limiting supply. Global supplies are tight, so international demand for Indian coriander is strong, though high prices sometimes slow the pace of exports. Consolidation and fresh profit opportunities are expected in the coming days.

🥜 Fenugreek Seeds Firm Up

Fenugreek has been gaining as domestic and pharmaceutical industry demand continues. Weaker mandi arrivals and lower stocks have supported the market. Customer buying is currently slow, but the supply-side tightness is dominant. Traders expect firm conditions and good profit opportunities in the near term.

🌰 Nutmeg Rally Likely to Be Limited

Nutmeg saw only a marginal rise recently. New-crop arrivals continue from producing regions, and stocks in the market are plentiful, so price momentum has slowed and the market has stabilised. Big importers and traders who had stocked up at higher levels are now selling old material to book profits. With supply rising, there is little room for further sharp gains.

⚠️ Poppy Seeds Stay Dull, No Recovery in Sight

Poppy Seeds are in a weak phase and saw a decline recently. Turkish-origin poppy seeds remain stable at their older levels. Arrivals of the new crop in March and April have increased supply in the mandis, putting pressure on prices. Large traders and stockists have sharply limited selling at lower levels, but there is no sign of a revival in the coming days.
