Senna Pods

SENNA PODS

Senna Pods are the dried fruit of the Senna alexandrina plant, globally recognized for their natural laxative properties and extensive use in herbal medicine and pharmaceuticals. Shingotex proudly offers premium quality Senna Pods, meticulously sourced and processed to ensure high efficacy and strict adherence to international quality benchmarks. Our pods are distinguished by their robust sennoside content, making them highly effective for various wellness and medicinal applications.

Origin

Our Senna Pods are primarily cultivated and harvested from the arid and semi-arid regions of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu in India, where the specific climatic and soil conditions foster the growth of high-potency Senna plants.

Harvest Season

The main harvest season for Senna Pods in India typically spans from October to December. A secondary, smaller harvest can occur between February and March, depending on regional weather patterns and cultivation practices.

Qualities & Grades

  • Grade A (Premium): Comprises whole, clean, mature pods with a uniform brownish-green color, minimal foreign matter, and a guaranteed sennoside content ranging from 2.5% to 3.5% (HPLC method).
  • Grade B (Standard): Consists of good quality pods, allowing for a slightly higher percentage of broken pods and minor impurities, with a typical sennoside content between 2.0% and 2.5% (HPLC method).

Packing

Shingotex offers Senna Pods packed securely in new 25 kg, 30 kg, or 50 kg PP (Polypropylene) woven bags, designed to ensure optimal preservation and protection during transit. We also provide flexible, customized packing solutions to meet the specific logistical and quantity requirements of our clients.

Characteristics

Senna Pods are typically oblong and flattened, displaying a brownish-green to dark brown hue when dried. They emit a characteristic, slightly pungent aroma and have a distinct mucilaginous, somewhat bitter taste. These properties are attributed to their active compounds, primarily sennosides A and B, which are responsible for their renowned purgative and laxative effects.
