The new crop of TURMERIC has started arriving. As expected the harvest is much lower than normal, which has meant in market arrivals being substantially lower than usual. Prices have been on a steady up climb and are expected to rise sharply in the next month as the new season arrivals start to end. We advise not to delay your requirements any more for this season.
\n New arrivals of CUMIN have started but quality is not yet upto expectation. On hopes of the harvest being almost double than normal, prices have dropped more than 50% from the top of last year. However, some recent buying at lower levels during the just concluded GULFOOD exhibition in Dubai, has pulled prices up somewhat. There can be some more room left for prices to gain until the new crop arrivals increase in strength in coming months.
\n GINGER continues to rule very high as stockiest are reluctant to release goods in the market knowing well that new crop production is impossible this season due to crop failure.
\n CHILLY prices have bottomed out on hopes of better crop this season and the fall in prices is now complete.
\nTAMARIND new crop started with prices firming up sharply as arrivals did not meet expectations. Reports of labor shortage to break & clean Tamarind resulting in higher costs are pushing prices up continuously. Stockiest who prefer fresh brown color Tamarind for local sales have become active, which is pushing prices up further. Levels can only come down in end April after stockiest have fulfilled their requirements and color begins to fade.
\n CORRIANDER refuses to come down as big buying emerges at the slightest weakness whereas FENUGREEK is lower on lack of demand.<\/p>\n
